Nigeria to Benefit from $770m Road Trust Fund

Nigeria is set to benefit from the $770 million Road Trust Fund, which is aimed at strengthening the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and reduce the country’s road fatalities by 50 per cent by 2030.

Mr Akinremi Bolaji, Minister Plenipotentiary, Permanent Mission of Nigeria to the United Nations (UN), stated this while delivering Nigeria’s statement at the launch of the United Nations Road Trust Fund at the UN headquarters in New York.

Mr. Bolaji said: “As a developing country, Nigeria not only supports the trust fund but anxiously looks forward to being among the first beneficiaries from the envisaged financial support.

“This is necessary to tilt our ongoing intervention efforts to meet the UN Sustainable Development Goals of reducing fatalities by 50 per cent.
